For many people, even when the car is equipped with GPS navigators, safety bags and seatbelts, these are not enough to assure them that it is safe to drive and that nothing terrible will happen just because they are sitting behind the wheel.  These people are said to be suffering from the fear of driving phobia, a common condition that makes a driver imagine that something terrible will happen if they drive under certain conditions or in certain roads.
Driving phobias come in many different forms, some people are scared of driving in highways, others are scared of turning left or right, intersections, bridges, driving in traffic but the most common fear of driving is the fear to drive in busy freeways.  This condition often leads to inability to drive properly and if not addressed in good time, inability to drive at all.  However, it is a treatable condition and victims can be shown how to manage their imaginations in order to drive well.
